Several Hurt as In-Flight Disturbance Strikes A Delta Airlines Aircraft Arriving in Sydney, Australia

Several people were hurt when a Delta aircraft from Los Angeles to Sydney experienced turbulence on Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, a company official told. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they treated five patients, and took three of them to the hospital with relatively minor issues that such as spinal discomfort and migraines. The injured were between their thirties and seventies.

It is the newest example of planes experiencing turbulence, with experts pointing out that climate change is a key driver.

There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the wide-body jet, the Delta spokesperson added, clarifying that the plane landed "without further incident" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.

Emergency responders said they were alerted just a mere three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.
