It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," said Healy.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
